Job Description

SUMMARY

Full-Time Criminal Justice Faculty, tenure track. Start date – August 2018.

Essential Duties Summary

Responsibilities

  • Teach at least 24 credit hours in an academic year.
  • The individual will teach coursework primarily in Criminal Justice but possibly a course in Sociology and/or the University’s Community of Learners curriculum.
  • Advising students, maintaining an active research agenda, attending University meetings and events, and other professional responsibilities are also part of this position, as are any additional duties assigned by the Department Chair.
Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice although candidates classified as ABD will be considered given they complete their Ph.D. within a reasonable period of time. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related area (e.g., Sociology) or a J.D. will also be considered provided they are able to teach a wide range of courses in Criminal Justice.
  • Applicants with areas of specialization in race and ethnicity, social inequality (e.g., immigration), gender studies, and/or globalization are welcome as they will complement the goals and direction of the Department.
  • This individual will also be expected to develop and foster relationships with internship sites for Criminal Justice students throughout Jackson County and the State of Michigan.
